Doubting terror confessions will not help
By Ofwono OpondoYou say 95 percent of “Ugandans” doubt the confessions of the July 11 terror suspects because they don’t believe in Museveni’s regime. So there you get the answer-they believe in the Uganda police, Scotland Yard, FBI, and Kenyan police because they are compromisable. But who are these so-called 95 percent Ugandans anyway?
In any case hating Museveni’s regime is normal. Working for its downfall is harder though; because whoever has tried knows how difficult it is. Now, those same Ugandans years ago doubted if Museveni’s regime would survive longer than the Yusuf Lule, Binaisa, Tito Okello Lutwa, and the Milton Obote regimes.
Twenty four years and NRM is still going very strong with the popular will. They also doubted if Museveni was a Ugandan and not an alien from Rwanda. We settled that debate. They doubted if Joseph Kony of the LRA existed and if LRA was not an NRA/M outfit to cause genocide against the Acholi according to the then eminent Dr Olara Otunnu. What do they say today when Kony was seen meeting and hugging Norbert Mao, Bishops’ Odama and Ochola Baker? They are silent.
As usual NRM will win this war including the 2011 election and most of the informed public opinion debate. We [NRM] shall always be far ahead of the doomsayers and doubting Thomases. Good Otunnu is back right here and opinion polls seem not to lie.
