Kibirige is right, we need a national language
By Charles Oruk
I do agree with Mr. Abbey Kibirige. We need a national language that we all can learn and speak. It will break the barriers of tribalism and instil unity. Now Ugandans are divided because they don’t have a unifying factor (one language).
Luganda can be the national language but it will be good if it is done on a democratic way (referendum). Let Ugandans decide in a vote what language they want to be a national language. And this needs a government that cares about the country not “For God and my Stomach” we see today.
I suggest the choice of the language should be that Luganda from central, one from the north, one from the south, one from the east and one from the west. English should be kept as official language, but not Swahili.
