NRM flag bearer claimed asylum on FDC “ticket”

A strong NRM supporter who allegedly “fled” Uganda to escape from NRM’s “political persecution” fraudulently masqueraded as a persecuted FDC supporter and successfully claimed political asylum in the United Kingdom.
FDC’s International Envoy to the UK/EU Mr. Sam Akaki revealed to FDC party supporters gathered in Manchester-UK to interact with their party President Dr. Kizza Besigye that Mr. Julius Omute, the bogus asylum seeker, recently sneaked back into Uganda by road through Nairobi-Kenya.
As someone who has just been granted “Exceptional Leave to Remain” in the United Kingdom, Mr. Omute is not [according to British asylum rules] allowed to return to the same Uganda ruled by the same NRM government that he claims persecuted him for his political views.
Julius Omute however sneaked back into Uganda to contest in the just concluded NRM primaries without officially renouncing his claim to political asylum to British Home Office authorities.
He won his contest in Kumi and is now the NRM’s official flag bearer for the 2011 elections. Omute’s election as NRM flag bearer has now ironically pitted him against FDC’s Engineer Amuriat among others.
To build his asylum case, Julius Omute had fraudulently sought assistance from FDC-UK Chapter officials who innocently wrote for him asylum support letters. He also fraudulently acquired an FDC membership card to dupe the British Home Office that he was a genuine FDC supporter who had fled persecution. END. If it’s Monday, it’s Uganda Correspondent.
