Col. John Charles Ogole, the man who commanded UNLA’s Special Brigade against Museveni’s then National Resistance Army [NRA] rebels in the Luwero Triangle, has urged officers and men in Uganda’s armed forces to ‘desert’ Museveni and side with the people of Uganda in the 2011 elections.

The time for a final liberation has come – Besigye

By George Murumba

27th Dec 2010

File photo, is it time for liberation from this?

The ongoing government recruitment of militias is a very clear indication that Museveni’s government is preparing to unleash violence and harrass opposition supporters, IPC presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye has said.

“…We are obviously concerned about more than just his [Museveni’s] statements.  At the moment, (more…)

Aronda: Uganda will support Kirr against Bashir

By George Murumba

27th Dec 2010

Gen. Aronda

The strained diplomatic relations between Khartoum and Kampala sunk to new depth last week when the Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Aronda Nyakairima warned Bashir’s north Sudan that Uganda would support Salva Kirr’s south Sudan if the referendum on its independence is obstructed.

The south is widely expected to vote for secession amid fears that Khartoum, which is campaigning for unity, may not accept the results.  Nearly half a century of intermittent civil war between north and south Sudan ended in 2005 when (more…)

Museveni is a ‘rejected’ president – Besigye

By John Stephen Katende

27th Dec 2010

Rejected President?

The IPC’s presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye, who is also the FDC President, has said it is now clear that Museveni is a rejected President who is on his way out.

“…Every election has different situations.  The issues are different. And, in this election, obviously, the country is to decide whether, after a quarter of a century under the rule of President Museveni, he should be given another mandate.  The clear, overwhelming view is that the whole country will reject Mr. Museveni.  He is on his way out and that is causing him to behave and talk in panic”, Besigye said.

The IPC leader made the ground breaking declaration to Uganda Correspondent as part of his reaction to President Museveni’s threat last week to arrest him if he declares his own results in the forthcoming elections scheduled to take place in February 2011.

The Inter Party Cooperation (IPC) flag bearer Dr. Kizza Besigye, who is also the President of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), is Uganda’s ‘savior’, jubilant singing Sabiny women have declared.

Unlike in 2006 when town folk in Sebei region ignored him, this time round, huge crowds welcomed him with many singing, dancing, and cheering.  At the same ground where he campaigned in 2006, a group of women traders who said they had been NRM supporters for a long time but had now changed (more…)
