The United States of America [USA] is convinced that President Yoweri Museveni is deluded and autocratic, the controversial WikiLeaks diplomatic cables revealed.
According to the leaked diplomatic cables, US Ambassador to Uganda Jerry Lanier on 19th October 2009 prepared a briefing document titled “Scene-setter” for Assistant Secretary of State for Africa Jonnie Carson who was due to visit Uganda. (more…)

President Yoweri Museveni’s abrupt visit to war-torn Somalia on 5th December could have been purely for Public Relations purposes, Uganda Correspondent can exclusively reveal.
In a move that surprised many, including First Lady Mrs. Janet Museveni, some sources say, the President unceremoniously took time off his busy election campaign schedule to visit Ugandan soldiers serving under the AU’s AMISOM peacekeeping mission in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. (more…)

Self-styled Field Marshal Idi Amin has been dead for years. But according to some analysts, Amin has made a dramatic come-back from the beneath the grave to join President Museveni’s 2011 election campaigns.
President Yoweri Museveni’s critics claim that he and his cadres deliberately suggest that a vote for change in the February polls could mean the return of merciless military rule, like Amin’s 1971-1979 tenure.
“…The National Resistance Movement knows how to manage the army”, Museveni said on November 18th at a campaign rally in northern Uganda. He then reminded the crowd of his role in toppling “Field Marshall” Amin, who was forced into exile in 1979 – after a brutally unpredictable rule during which around 300 000 people were killed. Amin died in Saudi Arabia in 2003.

DP’s presidential candidate Norbert Mao on Friday 10th finally released his party’s “Buganda Campaign Strategy” in Kampala while meeting party members from Buganda region.
Mao said his campaigns in Buganda would henceforth be conducted jointly with DP’s party flag-bearers for various posts. “…When I start campaigns here I would wish to see all DP candidates at all levels. We shall move village to village together”, Mao said.
He added that while his party had attracted considerable support in other regions, Buganda remained its stronghold (more…)

The UPDF’s Brig. Charles Otema Awany has been named again as a suspect in the ‘extra-judicial killing’ of Mr. Peter Oloya, an opposition activist who was shot dead under mysterious circumstances in Gulu Central Prison.
The revelations are contained in the diplomatic cables published on the WikiLeaks website. The cables say that in 2003, the High Court of Uganda “…described Mr. Oloya’s death as “a blatant case of extra judicial killing”. (more…)
