Matsanga greets Museveni

A senior official of the notorious Lord’s Resistance Army [LRA] rebels who was deeply involved in the Juba peace talks to end the war in the north has congratulated Ugandans for voting President Museveni back into power.

Writing in The Standard, a Kenyan English daily newspaper, Mr. David Nyekorach Matsanga said Ugandans had chosen continuity, stability and prosperity over the uncertainty that would have accrued to Ugandans if they had elected a new President.

Matsanga said Museveni brought economic prosperity to Uganda and that by re-electing him as President in the controversial and disputed elections of February 18th, Ugandans had chosen to continue having the “sweet things” that Museveni brought to Uganda.

Reacting to the news of Matsanga’s support for his erstwhile enemy Museveni, a senior Uganda People’s Congress [UPC] official who spoke to Uganda Correspondent on condition of anonymity however dismissed Matsanga’s views as those of an unstable man.

“…Matsanga’s views are inconsequential to Ugandan politics.  The whole world knows that Matsanga is an unstable and opportunistic man who jumps on any gravy train.  He worked with Kony, Mugabe, and now he may be looking for a job in Museveni’s government.  Good luck to him”, the UPC official said.

Matsanga previously declared his intention to contest for the Presidency of UPC but later withdrew.  END.  Please log into www.ugandacorrespondent.com every Monday to read our top stories and anytime mid-week for our news updates.
