28^th March 2011:- The Ugandan police’s Rapid Response Unit [RRU] frequently operates outside the law, carrying out torture, extortion, and in some cases, extrajudicial killings, Human Rights Watch has said in its latest report.

Centre: UPDF soldier injured in Budadiri scuffle

28^th March 2011:- Last week, Journalist Julius Odeke ended his story at the point when he was in hospital after being shot by the UPDF as he covered elections in Nandala Mafabi’s Budadiri West constituency.  This week, he continues from where he left.

NSSF's new Deputy MD

28^th March 2011:- The National Social Security Fund [NSSF], the workers organisation that has become infamous for its huge corruption scandals, has appointed Ms Geraldine Ssali as its new Deputy Managing Director.

The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic development, Hon. Syda Bumba made the appointment in accordance with Section 39 of the National Social Security Fund Act.  According to a statement released by NSSF Board Chairman Mr. Vincent B.
