How will NRM supporters’ sun set?
By Joseph Tumushabe
31st Oct 2011: Must it always reach this level. Must the outcome always be this? The other week it was Mubarak’s supporters being hurled in the desert dust; last week it was Lauret Bagdbo supporters being chased through the coffee and cocoa plantations. This week Gaddafi supporters are having the rough end of their citizen’s stick. Why?
Moi’s supporters never had to run out of town? John Kuffor’s supporters are enjoying great time in Accra and Kumasi. Even apartheid supporters in South Africa simply became wealthier when Mandela came in. Wait a minute, even in Banda’s Zambia there were smiles as Michael Sata took the wheel of Leadership from MDA. I even say the man of the white hankie at the occasion.
The question is what will be the fate of Uganda and M7’s supporters when the sun sets on that regime? What can we start doing as a nation in preparing for the transition to continue enjoying Uganda as nation after he is no more at the helm? Are the conditions obtaining in Uganda similar to those of Moi’s Kenya sunset, John Kuffor’s 2008? Or Zambia’s 2011 or are we headed the Libyan, Egyptian and Cote d’Ivoire sunset?
Let us all remember that the outcome of every transition is always planned. When the time for going to bed comes, we all sleep in the bed we laid. END. Please login to www.ugandacorrespondent.com every Monday to read our top stories and anytime mid-week for our news updates.
