The army is about to mutiny, says Lubega

14th Nov 2011:
Former independent presidential candidate Mr. Samuel Lubega, who also leads a breakaway faction of the Democratic Party [DP], has said there is credible evidence to suggest that the national army the Uganda People’s Defence Force [UPDF] is about to mutiny in protest.
Mr. Lubega, who was one of the key speakers at the ‘Grand Public Debate’ organised by Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] UK Chapter in London issued his chilling warning and said: “…Our security forces are about to mutiny. A republican Monarch causes the worst form of discontent and we must rise up and fight it”, the DP politician said.
Not only did Lubega say that President Yoweri Museveni has rigged more elections than former President Dr. Apollo Milton Obote [RIP], he went further and said over the years, a substantial body of political evidence has built up to show that “…Museveni is worse than Amin”, the brutal former Ugandan dictator who died in exile in Saudi Arabia.
In an energetic speech that attracted intermittent applause from the crowd, Lubega also castigated the Inspector General of Police [IGP] Major General Kale Kayihura for militarising the police force and turning into a brutal force of repression.
He also appealed to Uganda’s Diaspora community to double their efforts in supporting the struggle for democracy in Uganda. “…The Diaspora should be the change agents in this struggle.” Lubega said.
