Dr. Kizza Besigye at Nabweru Magistrates Court

Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] Party President Dr Kizza Besigye, who was trying to ‘Walk-to-Work’ in the bi-weekly protests against high fuel and food prices, has been arrested for the third time.

The FDC leader was arrested at “Ku Biri” around Mulago National Referral Hospital and arraigned before the nearby Nabweru Magistrates Court from where he was charged with “unlawful assembly” and remanded in custody until (more…)

An injured Besigye being manhandled during arrest

18^th April 2011:- THE government has arrested nearly all Uganda’s top opposition leaders and activists in a dawn swoop that was aimed at stopping them from setting off on the ‘Walk-to-Work’ protests called by ‘Activists for Change’.

FDC UK/EU Envoy Akaki

18^th April 2011:- FDC’s top ‘diplomat’ in Europe Mr. Sam Akaki, who is the party’s International Envoy to the UK and EU, has petitioned NATO to either disarm President Museveni’s security forces, or arm Uganda’s pro-democracy activists who are agitating for democratic reforms.  In his opinion article published in Uganda Correspondent today, [see: NATO must disarm Museveni or arm opposition ] Mr. Akaki said:
