A4C activities amount to high treason
By Adam Kazoora
5th March 2012: I sometimes wonder what goes on in some people’s heads – and by these I mean our reactionary opposition politicians in Activists for Change [A4C]. Since the last elections in February 2011 which they lost badly to President Yoweri Museveni, they have buried their heads in the sand and stubbornly refused to accept defeat.
The true hallmark of any politician who claims to be a democrat is in his or her humility to accept defeat in a free and fair election. This is what I would have expected to see from the opposition A4C people who constantly call Museveni a dictator. If they can’t accept defeat, then wouldn’t they be worse dictators than Museveni if they took power?
They are now going around the country inciting and asking wanainchi to use ‘people power’ to force Museveni out power. In other words, they have finally realised that they can never win any election in which someone as popular as Museveni is a candidate – hence their resort to means which could amount to high treason.
The stability of our country must be put above anyone’s political ambitions. In fact, no democratic right, however desirable, should ever be allowed to threaten national stability. And yet, these so-called A4C democrats are going around the country addressing rallies which are threatening the country’s stability.
When the police take tough action against them in the interest of national stability, they run crying with their bleeding faces to Journalists – hoping to win sympathies from wanainchi and from their masters in European capitals. Their actions of running to Europeans for help are, above all else, a sign of great weakness.
How can such lead an independent nation? Through their subversive activities, A4C members are courting death sentences. We really need to amend the law quickly to allow for summary criminal trials and convictions for people [like A4C activists] suspected of committing offences like treason which are committed against the state.
And if they are found guilty by a court of law, then they should be given the harshest punishment to send a clear message that Ugandans value stability more than anything else. END.
