6^th August 2012: Ben Ali? Absent Sir!  Hosni Mubarak? Absent Sir!  Laurent Ggabo? Absent Sir!  The “King of Kings” Gaddafi? Absent Sir!  Bingu wa Mutharika? Absent Sir!  Meles Zenawi? Well Sir, he is not in Class.

I have made it a tradition to down a bottle of wine every day an African strong man goes yonder.  Trouble is that at this rate, I might be declared an alcoholic.  I am waiting for three more to go before I get saved. Who is next?

And let me hear no one fooling us that Africa will implode because these crooks are no more. Africa can only get better.  Ask Agathe Habyalimana if you are in doubt.

The only thing that can get chaotic is the fate of these people, their cronies, and members of their families that chose the anti-majority citizen’s stance. Their departure gives everybody else an opportunity to make right what went wrong and better whatever had miraculously been done right under their watch.

We watched apartheid go up in smoke in South Africa, and the country became the continent’s power house. Yet a lie had been propagated by the horrible beneficiaries of the century old regime that Africans were only fit for Bantustans.

We saw J.J. Rawlings give up his salvation mission and Ghana is a proud economic and political democracy. Do I have to mention Zambia, Namibia or Nigeria and Sani Abacha?
