NRM corruption turns into a nightmare
By Ishmael Kyambadde
26th Nov 2012: I met a long lost friend at a coffee shop in the hot and humid town of an East African country whose inhabitants spoke Swahili. He and I had met here before, but we had somehow disappeared off each other’s radar.
My friend began with a hot retort of my behavior. “You are such a hopeless, insensitive and unpatriotic so-called citizen. How do you keep quiet when our rulers are doing serious “fundraising” for their party – the ‘National Robbers Movement’ (NRM) using the highest offices in the land?”
He continued: Can you imagine? Even the pension funds for our old men and women are being swallowed by debauched children of the 1986 revolution! What happened to our culture of respect for properties belonging to the old? Doesn’t it matter anymore?
Even the republic’s Education Ministry that should have been spared for its importance in the development of our children has not been spared in this era of gruesome primitive feeding – otherwise known as corruption by the jealous majority in the republic.
By the way, do you know who the prime suspects are, I asked? Of course, he said. It’s the Prime Minister, who is also the Leader of Government thieving business in the Kingdom of Rwakitura. Who else?
Yes, the second one is the absolute Monarch – the King of the Kingdom of Rwakitura – the King of all thieves. What the hell are you talking about man, I asked? Work it out for yourself, my friend replied.
By the way, apart from the elections in a few years time, what else is the NRM “fundraising” for? Come on – have you forgotten that the great ‘National Robbers Movement’ party also needs money to build the NRM House, my friend replied?
No, I haven’t forgotten – but do the big men do the “fundraising” themselves, I asked my friend again? Of course not! Do you think they are that stupid? What’s wrong with you, he asked – now looking quite irritated with my silly naivety!
And he added: They use “fundraising agents” like “Muzinda” and “Mugirimana”. The other one is called McOloka – he comes from the mountainous eastern enclave ruled by the great gun wielding Fox – he who served in the Palace as the King’s legal counsel.
I was totally lost. So I simply said: Oh well, what can I say? My friend shot back and said: Exactly! We have a country where young beautiful female Ministers who are rejected by the “August House of Thieves” are forcefully imposed on the people for nothing more than their “horizontal gymnastics” prowess in the private wing of King’s swanky Palace.
And he added: As the King enjoys five star royal treatment to his promiscuous ‘Crown Jewels’, our people continue to die needlessly and in agony of Ebola, Nodding Disease, jiggers, etc. Suddenly my phone rang.
It was at this point that I woke up and realized that I had just had a very bad nightmare about NRM corruption in Uganda. Strange! END: Login to www.ugandacorrespondent.com every Monday to read our top stories mid-week for our updates
