UK oil experts train local stakeholders

The British High Commission together with the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) have organised a capacity building training on the Environmental aspects in the Oil and Gas industry in Uganda.
The training starts today, November 5, and will run up to November 9, 2012 at the Protea Hotel Kampala. The training will highlight various phases of the oil and gas cycle and environmental issues pertinent to Uganda associated with each of them.
It will also highlight issues for consideration in managing the oil and gas industry, management of waste in the industry, community and industry communication strategies and how to manage environmental risk and reaching agreements.
This training will be facilitated by environmental experts from RPS Energy (UK), an international consultancy that provides advice on oil and gas exploration and production and management of the built and natural environment.
The participants will include a range of stakeholders in the oil and gas industry from government departments; NEMA, PEPD, UWA, UNRA, NFA, Ministry of Water and Environment, Presidents Office, private oil operators, environmental practitioners and the civil society in Uganda.
