Museveni is pathological hypocrite
By Norman Miwambo
25th February 2013: I don’t believe Museveni was being honest to himself and world when he said in a BBC interview with Allan Kasujja that France’s involvement in finding a solution the political crisis in Mali was ‘a big shame’ and ‘an indictment for the African regimes’.
Let’s stretch the imagination a little bit here: Can anyone boldly argue that Museveni had forgotten that he has been in a similar situation with the fight against Joseph Kony’s LRA rebels? It’s a well-known fact that his “mighty” UPDF has failed to defeat the LRA in 24 years of conflict – both in northern Uganda and in DR Congo.
Can anyone boldly argue that Museveni had forgotten that U.S. President Barack Obama sent him 100 U.S. soldiers in 2008 to help capture the elusive LRA leader Joseph Kony? Can anyone boldly argue that Museveni had forgotten that the Special Forces Command under his son’s command failed spectacularly to capture Kony in Congo even when he had sophisticated U.S. intelligence on his side?
Museveni’s son Brig Muhoozi commanded the botched attack on the LRA camp in Garamba forest in the Democratic Republic of Congo. When he failed to kill or capture a single rebel, he effectively opened the doors of hell for the civilian population in the areas surrounding Garamba forest as the retaliatory massacre of innocent Congolese civilians followed.
In fact, we may never know who actually killed the innocent Congolese civilians. Both the LRA and the UPDF are suspects. Experts however believe that the UPDF had a stronger motive to take revenge on the Congolese civilians. Why? Because they had lived with and perhaps even protected Kony’s rebels for over two years!
Kony would have had to be crazier than we consider him to be to antagonize the same Congolese people he needed most for intelligence to help him evade the hot pursuit from three national armies. END: Login to www.ugandacorrespondent.com every Monday to read our top stories mid-week for our updates
