Museveni planning to kill Besigye, say protesters

UK Ugandans protesting Besigye arrest in Manchester
2nd May 2011: A group of Ugandans living in Manchester – United Kingdom have protested against the government’s violent arrest of Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] Party President Dr. Kizza Besigye and its brutal crackdown on ‘Walk-to-Work’ demonstrators as a whole.
The UK demonstration, which, as the picture shows, appears to have included a little toddler, was staged on Saturday 30th April outside Manchester Town Hall. In a short statement, Mr. Francis Muhoozi, one of the Manchester demonstrators, said they staged the demonstration to “…highlight the miseries innocent Ugandans are going through at the moment”.
One woman protester carried a placard which read: “…Help. President of Uganda General Museveni is shooting children and pregnant women on Ugandan streets”; the former, we suspect, is reference to baby Juliana Nalwanga [RIP] aka “Gift” of Masaka whose head and chest was ripped apart by two bullets fired by President Museveni’s trigger happy anti-riot security operatives.
It is also more than likely that the protester’s mention of the shooting of “pregnant women” was in fact reference to the bloody shooting of Brenda Nalwendo; a seven month pregnant woman who was shot in the stomach by police officers at Kajjansi and left for dead with her intestines oozing out.
Whether by design or coincidence, another female protester, with a sleeping baby in front of her, carried a placard which seemed to be a direct appeal to the BBC to pick interest in and broadcast the plight of the Ugandan protesters being killed in cold blood by President Museveni’s security operatives.
It read: “…Help BBC. Ugandan General Museveni is worst dictator planning to kill opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye”. We should add that no evidence has yet emerged to conclusively confirm that President Museveni is indeed planning to kill his main political challenger Dr. Kizza Besigye.
