Karooro Okurut, how can a thief catch a thief?
By Seezi Sewagaba
16th May 2011: Even just one vote stolen is evidence enough to nullify the whole election and call for a new election. But in the case of Uganda, there was a massive electoral fraud. 600 billion shillings was stolen to bribe voters. Much of that money was never accounted for. I am sure it was pocketed by Museveni’s supporters and tribesmen.
So there is no surprise that Mary Karooro Okurut praises Museveni. She has a stake in the survival of the regime. Mrs Okurut could even be privy to the so-called “Tutsi Master Plan” in which Museveni and his tribesmen the Bahima and Tutsi planned to rule Uganda for the next 50 years. Even Hitler hoped that the Nazi regime would last for a thousand years. But it only lasted for 12 years.
Man proposes, but God disposes. God said in the Bible that I am the one who frustrates the ways of wise men. For Mrs Okurut to say that Museveni’s track record is impeccable and that Museveni can light a fire even when it is raining is sheer flattery. She knows that by saying these flattering words to the worst dictator Uganda has ever known, it would help keep her in her job, where she feels protected and shielded from all forms of suffering other Ugandans are going through.
No matter what crime a Museveni supporter commits, he or she is guaranteed one thing: And that is protection from prosecution. So Mrs Karooro Okurut, I do not blame you. You can call black white and white black if it suits your agenda for survival. Even a toddler of two years can see what Ugandans have gone through under Museveni. Mrs Okurut belongs to the exclusive class which has been handpicked by Museveni to be showered with economic privileges other Ugandans are denied access to.
You say in your article that the Ugandan opposition is using the walk-to-work demonstrations just to make Uganda ungovernable. This is a lie. The grievances which the opposition are trying to highlight are not only economic. The recent rise in fuel and food prices is just the tip of the iceberg. Every day our tax revenues are stolen and shared among Museveni’s supporters; and Karooro Okurut may be one of them.
Museveni and his supporters live in a different world; different from where ordinary Ugandans live. With other election thieves like Mugabe and Kibaki watching, Museveni held the Bible and swore in God’s name that he was legitimately voted into power. It was a spectacle of lies, thereby taking God’s name in vain. And in so doing, Museveni broke the third commandment which says: thou shall not take the name of thy God in vain.
Whoever holds the Bible and swears falsely under God’s name is in danger of eternal fire and damnation. You were right by saying in your article that many people have sold off their land and are living within the city. They have done this because of poverty. People in Uganda are poorer than ever before because Museveni had a deliberate plan to impoverish them.
Co-operative societies were abolished. Poor farmers used to sell their agricultural products and even borrow money at low interest from the Co-operative Bank, which no longer exists. It is alleged that under minute seven of the “Tutsi Master Plan”, Museveni categorically states that he intended to deny other people access to economic resources.
To achieve that, it is alleged that certain individuals and companies that do not belong to his people would be overtaxed. Public enterprises that his people don’t gain from would be sold off; Co-operative societies and unions would be sold off. Consequently, The Co-op Bank and UCB were sold and the money pocketed by Museveni’s cronies.
Education and health services were commercialised. People in Uganda die because they cannot pay for health services and drugs which are bought by their tax collections. Education and health is given to the highest bidder. Doctors are underpaid and therefore have no morale to work. A Doctor earns around half a million shillings a month while a Westerner like Mrs Kagina of Uganda Revenue Authority earns more than thirty million shillings a month.
All these things leave no doubt in the minds of intelligent Ugandans that you and your NRM are on a secret mission. Lastly in your article you quote Museveni as saying that everybody should be on board and we all fight corruption. How can a thief catch a fellow thief?
