Kiiza hurled Museveni from Mt Rwenzori
By Joseph Tumushabe
13th Aug 2012: The forces have been building up since Odo Tayebwa’s volcanic eruption on the Bushenyi-Ishaka axis. The seismic forces sent ruling NRM reeling backwards, and almost sank the party off the shores of Lake Victoria in Bukoto.
Clearly, something was amiss. The rigging and terror machinery was no longer a vote “winner”. The people had long seen through the facade of NRM tricks. More importantly, the nation was progressively waking up and walking. Only NRM was deep in a slumber.
For three weeks, Kasese was politically charged. The Rwenzoris were rumbling. A political earthquake was inevitable and Bakonjo are some of the most fearless people in Uganda.
Trouble is that the NRM chief, the only man with the “vision” to lead Uganda, failed to see that intimidation was not going to work.
On the 8th day, of the 8th month, call it nane nane, a gentle mannered and smiling Winnie Kiiza, climbed to Stanley peak and did the impossible. She hurled down Museveni, Kiyonga, Kayihura and Nyakairima’s double terror-rigging machinery. And NRM are left to pick the pieces.
In Chapter 25 of the Prince, Italian philosopher Niccolo Machiavelli compares fortune to a torrential river that cannot be easily controlled during flooding season.
Well, Mr Yoweri Museveni, wake up. The people withdrew their love for you long time ago. Now they have withdrawn their fear of you. Are you prepared for the earthquake? END. Login to www.ugandacorrespondent.com every Monday to read our top stories mid-week for our updates
