Our youth have the power to decide our future

5th–11th July 2010

By C.D Rauxen Zedriga

I am back with our youth; our future leaders!  On the social front, it is irrelevant now to state here that Iddi Amin had decreed the establishment of a National Council for Women in 1975.  Let’s deal with our most recent history. (more…)

Kamya’s UFA putting cart before the horse

28.06.2010

By Chantal Kembabazi

Beti O. Kamya

Allow me react to a story [Uganda’s problems are bigger than Museveni] that appeared in the Daily Monitor newspaper of June 24th.  In that story, the Chief Mobiliser of Uganda Federal Alliance [UFA] Yusuf Mukwata is quoted to have said that, “…as UFA, our plan is to change the system of governance to favour Ugandans because removing President Museveni from power is not enough to bring change”.  And then, before the ink had even dried on Mukwata’s statement, his boss Beti Olive Kamya weighed in and completely contradicted her own Chief Mobiliser Mukwata [see: What if Tamale Mirundi replaces EC’s Kiggundu, Daily Monitor, June 25th]. Militia training could cause genocide

28.06.2010

By John Patrick Wambi

Finally, with utmost good faith, let me end my thoughts with a heartfelt piece of advice, a plea in fact, to the elders of the greater Western Uganda and Ankole in particular.  Because of my business, I have travelled extensively through every corner of Western Uganda.  The truth I see on the ground is that 90% of the people in Western Uganda are as poor as the typical IDP camp dweller in Acholi, Lango, and Teso or the blind jigger ridden Musoga peasant from Kayunga; the very centre of the incident that has so outraged me.  Most people however, think that Museveni has done massive favours for all your children; and they are, if you didn’t know, very, very bitter about it! Youth must understand our past before 2011

28.06.2010

By C.D Rauxen Zedriga

Our visionary President the “great” Yoweri Museveni seems to have finally enrolled into the class of people who accepted many years ago that corruption is endemic in the government fabric and requires divine intervention.  It is for this reason that my thoughts today are devoted to reviewing some of the highlights of our mighty “1986 Revolution”.  I do this not for old men like me who have seen it all.  It is purely for the benefit of our youth born after that “great” revolution.  Our youth are a great team of voters in the coming 2011 elections. Corruption in Museveni’s regime can cause war

By Charles Ochen Okwir

The subject of corruption in Museveni’s government and indeed in Uganda as a whole has hit the headlines once again after our “most beloved” and only visionary President Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni called for national prayers to heal the country from the vice.  Great stuff!  It reminded me of a TV documentary I watched several months ago and wrote about; simply because it had shaken me to the bone.  The program, “Ross Kemp on Gangs”, had just been aired on a Sky TV channel.  Ross Kemp, the so-called “Hardman” of British television, basically travels around the world talking to gangsters about their lives and what inspires their lifestyle.  From Kenya’s Mungiki, to Somali pirates; he has talked to all of them. Open letter to our new Judges

By Nelson Wanjala

My Lords!

Allow me congratulate you all upon your appointment and ascendency to the Bench.  For some of you, it may have come as complete surprise; while for rest, it may have been a long held career ambition or goal.  Whatever the case, your elevation to the Bench opens a new chapter in both your private and professional lives.  None of them, as you are well aware, will ever be the same again. “Kabi-Danger-Hatari” written all over militia training

By John Patrick Wambi

I have been towing with the idea of responding to the Daily Monitor story [Army Trains 200 Banyala Youth] of April 27th 2010 for some time now.  But every time I sit on the computer to write, something tells me “wait, someone out there will surely see that this is not right for our country and respond”.  To date, I haven’t heard any comprehensive rejection of the militia training.  Not even Buganda Kingdom, under whose nose all this is happening, has deemed it fit to challenge the blatant attack on its integrity and sphere of influence by Museveni’s government. West Nile NRM politicians are like flies in milk

By C.D Rauxen Zedriga

Dear Editor, allow me to first salute you all at “Uganda Correspondent” for affording a timely opportunity for Ugandans, through focused debate, to discuss the unfortunate political underdevelopment of a people; the people of Uganda that is.  My input in this instance is to do with the people of West Nile where I come from. Museveni is right about national prayers

As a born again Christian, I was particular chuffed by President Museveni’s call for national prayers to seek God’s blessings in our country’s struggle against this most vicious cancer called corruption.  Speaking from personal experience, I know that prayer can indeed cause miracles to happen.  The lame can walk, the blind can see, the bitter can get God’s joy and glory, and the corrupt can easily see the folly of their ways with the power of the Lord.

So I would like to congratulate President Museveni on his visionary leadership on this matter; if for nothing else.  Let us turn out in our thousands and praise the Lord for all the good things he has done for us as individuals and also ask him to forgive us for our transgressions against each other and our country’s wealth and morals.

Let Kiboko be Met with Kiboko

“Opposition Warned on Planned Demo” was the news that the Daily Monitor brought us on Monday 14th June 2020.  What is really going on in this terminally ill country called Uganda?  Is this the democracy Museveni promised us in 1986?  Nearly everything that is reported about our politics is simply depressing; and may in fact be a sign of the very turbulent political times ahead.  How the so-called “Kiboko Squad” was allowed to beat up FDC President Dr. Kizza Besigye in full view of police officers is beyond me.  It is simply unimaginable in any free and democratic society.  And then you have IGP Kayihura unashamedly claiming that he doesn’t know where the “Kiboko Squad” came from and who commands them.  So why didn’t General Kayihura order their immediate arrest if they were indeed on the streets without a nod and wink from the state?  Should the IPC also recruit its own “Kiboko Squad” to counter the beatings they get every time they try to demonstrate?  My answer is yes!  Let Kiboko be met with Kiboko.  Ugandans have nothing to lose now.  After all, Uganda is already a failed state under Museveni’s dictatorship.  So let’s destroy it and rebuild a better one thereafter.  Enough is enough!
