From time to time, I have seen debates on social media and in the mainstream media referring to Uganda’s ethnic groups.  This has often turned fiery whenever the discussion is about the ‘ruling’ Bahiima ethnic group. The most recent hullabaloo concerns comments attributed to an NTV presenter.

A top Ugandan consultant in international criminal and humanitarian law has called on The Hague based International Criminal Court [ICC] to investigate and indict President Yoweri Museveni for war crimes and crimes against humanity linked to the president’s alleged support for Congolese warlords Thomas Lubanga and Jean Bemba, as well as for alleged war crimes committed against civilians in northern Uganda.

Uganda issued passports to anti-Bashir rebels

US NGO Invisible Children’s campaign to eliminate Lord’s Resistance Army [LRA] rebel chief Joseph Kony went up notch last week, April 20, with the start of a grassroots mobilisation campaign which the organisers say is intended “to create buzz and public support”.

Inter-communal disputes over land and the allocation of land to private investors for cultivation, could threaten peace in parts of northern Uganda, IRIN news has reported.
